📋 About This Page

This page explains how users of the Khmercow app (available on Google Play and the App Store, developed by Khmercow Team) can request the deletion of their account and associated personal data, what is erased, and what we are required to keep. You may submit a request at any time, free of charge.

If you only want a copy of your information and do not want to close your account, see requesting your data instead.

📱 Option 1 — Delete In the App (Recommended)

The fastest way is to delete your account directly inside the Khmercow app or at khmercow.com:

Open Khmercow and make sure you are signed in.

Tap the Account tab, then Settings (the gear icon).

Scroll to the bottom, to the Danger Zone section.

Tap “Delete Account”.

Confirm who you are. If your account has a password you will be asked for it. If you sign in with Google, Facebook or Apple, you will be asked to sign in with that provider once more — this proves the request is really coming from you and not from someone using an unattended phone.

Read the confirmation message, then tap “Delete”.

✉️ Option 2 — Submit a Request by Email

If you no longer have access to the app, send an email to us from the address or about the phone number registered to your Khmercow account:

We may ask one or two questions to confirm the account is yours before we act — we cannot delete an account on the word of someone we cannot identify. We complete verified requests within 30 days and send a confirmation.

⏱️ What Happens, and When

Deletion happens in two stages. This matters, because it is what gives you a window to change your mind.

Stage 1 — immediately, the moment you confirm

  • Your account is deactivated. Every session and sign-in token is revoked, so you are signed out on every device and cannot sign in again.
  • Your profile stops being visible to other users, and your store and product listings are taken down from the marketplace.
  • Your saved delivery address, home address, shopping cart, wishlist and push-notification tokens are erased straight away.
  • Everything else is retained, but inaccessible, so that support can restore the account if you ask within the window below.

Stage 2 — after 30 days, automatically and irreversibly

  • A nightly job permanently erases your personal data as set out in the table below. Your name becomes “Deleted User”, your email and phone number are removed, and your sign-in credentials and linked Google / Facebook / Apple identities are destroyed.
  • Your profile photo, and your store logo, banner and product images, are deleted from our storage.
  • Your chat messages stop being attributed to you by name, in the app and in our records alike.
  • This cannot be undone.
⚠️ You have 30 days to contact support@khmercow.com if you change your mind. After that the erasure has already run and there is nothing left to restore. Data you have downloaded or stored on your own device is not affected.

📋 What Is Deleted vs Retained

When your account is deleted, the following applies:

Chat messages you sent Retained (anonymised) After 30 days your name is replaced with “Deleted User” everywhere it appears in chat. The message text stays with the conversation: a single conversation record holds both sides, and the store needs its own record of what was agreed about an order
Store data, product listings and their images (if you are a merchant) Deleted Delisted immediately; contact details cleared and images deleted after 30 days. The listing record itself is kept, without your details, because past orders reference it
Order records Retained 7 years (legal / tax compliance obligation)

ℹ️ Order and payment records are retained under Cambodian commercial law and international financial regulations for a minimum of 7 years. They contain the delivery details of orders you actually placed and cannot be erased on request. All other personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of your request.
